About
Tom Jakovac
and the Memorial Golf Outing

Tom Jakovac was a quiet and humble leader in all aspects of his life. He touched many hearts and inspired numerous athletes, students, relatives and friends with his gentle manner. He truly led an exemplary life and was loved by all. Tom was a devout catholic and this outing is a reflection of his life and love of his faith and sports.
Tom was a gifted athlete and lettered in football, basketball and track at Monsignor John A. Gabriel's High School in Lansing, Michigan. He was an all city quarterback and led the Shamrocks to an undefeated season in 1965 and a number two state ranking in Class B.  In addition, he was honorable mention All-State.
Tom went on to star at Alma College and led the Scotsmen to numerous titles in football. He was a four time MIAA quarterback, All MIAA MVP, Team Captain, and Honorable mention All-American quarterback in 1968. Tom also ran track for the Scots and was part of the 440 relay team that helped win the MIAA championship in 1970. He was inducted into the Alma College Hall of Fame in 1982.
Tom graduated from Alma College in Education and began his career teaching at Resurrection school. He taught in the middle school as well as coached the basketball and football teams and epitomized the very essence of a christian athlete. It was Tom's passion for everything he did along with his generosity, presence, and a big smile that will forever be remembered by those who loved him.

WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL JOIN US IN MEMORIALIZING TOM'S NAME AND THE LEGACY HE LEFT FOR OUR  YOUTH.
